Minutes for Tuesday, September 25, 2007

Alief Super Neighborhood # 25 held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. at the CenterPoint Energy Building, 12330 Bellaire Blvd.

Chairman Michael Manning called the meeting to order at 7:04 P.M.  Secretary Henry Williams conducted the Roll Call of council members. He announced a quorum was present. (See attached.)

Hospitality: Donated by The Honorable M. J. Khan; Houston City Council Member, District F. Thanks were expressed for his support of the ASNC and the Alief community.

INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS: Elaine Gaskamp (Super Neighborhood Alliance), Tiffany Carrethers (HCPHD Teen B3 Pregnancy Prevention Program)

1. Ray Moon: to accept the minutes as presented.   Seconded: Ray Simmons.  Council voted.  Motion Passed.

2. Ray Moon: to table ASN Promotion and request for $500 until the Oct. meeting. Seconded: Marie Lee.  Council voted.  Motion Passed.

3. Ray Simmons: to adjourn the meeting.  Seconded: Hubert Vo.  Council voted.  Motion Passed.

Students from Kerr High School distributed information about the music department, and invited the community to attend their programs.  Donations to fund music education are welcomed and needed.   A 12 hour fund raiser is Saturday, October 20, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wal-Mart near Beltway 8. A Dinner, hosted by Outback Steakhouse is November 8.

CHAIR’S REPORT – Michael Manning reported that Karen Lievre will chair a committee to promote the ASNC with goal to increase meeting attendance and participation.  $500 will be requested to implement the proposal.  The proposal was tabled for the October meeting.

Rules: Three minutes presentation by each candidate with NO interruptions, please.  Questions asked when candidates for each position have spoken.  Please keep questions succinct and on topic. Questioners are recognized by Chairperson only.  Candidates for each position have up to two minutes each to answer question.
A letter was read from Councilmember Sue Lovell (incumbent, At-large 2).  She has been to our meetings previously, and could not attend this evening.

At-large 5: Jack Christie, John Curtis Gibbs, Jolanda Jones, Zaf Tahir, and a representative for Marion Barabin.
